February 2020

The nineteenth short film in the Miu Miu Women’s Tales series, directed by Małgorzata Szumowska (Elles, In the Name Of, Mug and The Other Lamb) and featuring Raffey Cassidy (The Killing of a Sacred Deer and Vox Lux and a star of the Miu Miu F/W 2018 advertising campaign) is a symphonic portrait of young people’s struggle against the expectations of their family and society, which conveys the electrifying excitement that comes when one discovers one’s true self.

At night in Warsaw, we are introduced to two very different families. In the first, a working-class household, a father is sprawled on the sofa watching sport on TV and expects his son to do the same. In the other, meanwhile, a mother with a wealthy demeanour eats dinner in elegant surroundings with her daughter, her polar opposite. Suddenly, at the exact same moment, the two young people throw themselves spontaneously into a night-time journey of transformation on the city streets, during which they throw off all the gender-based shackles they have inherited. When they happen to meet, they reflect each other in silence, offering each other comfort and security.
