Fondazione Prada announces the winner of the first edition of the Degree Award: Marco Arrigoni of the University of Milan for his thesis "Sophie Calle's work through her artist's books".
The decision was taken by a jury composed of Fondazione Prada’s Presidents, Patrizio Bertelli and Miuccia Prada; the Councillor for Culture of the City of Milan, Filippo Del Corno; the Director of Corriere della Sera, Luciano Fontana and Fondazione Prada’s Head of Program, Astrid Welter.
The prize consists in the awarding of a scholarship aimed at the participation of the winner in a six-monthly, annual or two-year master's degree, chosen from a list of 21 European and American schools and universities. An internship at the foundation will complete the training.
This annual competition is promoted by the Prada Foundation in the belief that art and culture are effective tools for knowledge and growth and with the intention of playing an even more incisive role towards the younger generations and the city of Milan. The initiative is a recognition of the passion and skills of analysis of students who have discussed a thesis on artistic issues and museum management at one of the following universities in Milan: Università degli Studi di Milano, Libera Università di Lingue e Comunicazione IULM di Milano, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Politecnico di Milano e Università Bocconi.
