On 8 February ‘Slight Agitation 2/4: Pamela Rosenkranz’, the second of four chapters in the exhibition project of the same name, will be unveiled at Fondazione Prada in Milan. Following on from Tobias Putrih’s installation, which examined the concepts of play, politics and emancipation, the chapter created by Pamela Rosenkranz further develops an attempt to elicit reactions from the mind and body, creating sensory and spatial experiences in the spectators and involving them as an integral part of the artwork.
Swiss artist Pamela Rosenkranz’s work explores the ways that physical and biological processes influence art. Her installation, Infection, is based on a neuroactive parasite, which affects approximately 30% of the world’s population; the artwork consists of an enormous mountain of sand, made from a natural material impregnated with a fragrance and lit from above by RGB green light. This slowly causes the scent to evaporate, producing specific reactions of attraction and repulsion at a biological level and subconsciously influencing the public’s movements.
