The Prada Womenswear Spring/Summer 2016 advertising campaign, created by Steven Meisel, offers an unconstrained, modern and provocative dive into the past.
In a hyperreal set references to time appear transient, the present is difficult to grasp and the staples of the female wardrobe are shown in a new light; the figures are impeccably elegant but also easy-going, with a relaxed, chic and rebellious femininity.
The garments and accessories in the collection appear innovative but always true to Prada’s unconventional aesthetic.
The models, Sasha Pivovarova, Natalia Vodianova and Yasmin Wijnaldum, seem to travel through space and time, embodying a juxtaposition of present and past that is both irreverent and contemporary.
