The images for the Prada Menswear Spring/Summer 2016 advertising campaign were taken by English photographer Craig McDean.
The portraits reveal a unique energy, despite their apparently relaxed and casual feel, interpreting the spirit of the collection, which aims to convey the unique power possessed by male vulnerability: the power of truth.
An austere, almost bare non-conformism is combined with Prada’s long-held obsession with the industrial world. The result is a pensive and vulnerable vitality, and the spirit of post-modest masculinity emerges from the campaign.
The stars of the shoot are three actors with bright futures: Matthew Beard (The Imitation Game, Skylight and An Education), Billy Howle, (The Seagull, The Sense of an Ending and Cider with Rosie) and Logan Lerman (The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Indignation and Fury). In a quintessential New York nightclub, their figures appear paradoxically soft, recalling the atmosphere of 1970s club photography.
