The Miu Miu Automne collection’s communication takes its inspiration from an imaginary XIX century Bavaria, home to an aristocratic Miu Miu girl, with references to the decadence of Visconti’s films “The Damned” and “Ludwig”.
The pictures by Coco Capitán portray models in a play on the contrasts between classicism and modernism; a buttoned up, prim aesthetic and a certain playful irreverence that is central to the Miu Miu name: the princess in question lives in a cold climate and wraps herself in hand-knitted wool capes, coats and – if she’s feeling especially mischievous – shorts.
Wools borrowed from the men’s tailoring tradition juxtaposed with ultra-feminine collars of lace, resonant of Bavarian national dress, trousers cropped at the knee, suggestive of lederhosen, whereas rustic corduroys in variant shades of green and rust evoke the palette of a mountainous landscape.
