Prada joined other prestigious fashion brands in supporting an initiative entitled ‘La moda aiuta il Duomo – Adotta una guglia’ (‘Fashion Helping the Cathedral – Adopt a Spire’), promoted by the National Chamber of Italian Fashion and the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano, the body which since 1387 has been responsible for the protection, conservation and promotion of Milan Cathedral.
The creations offered by the various brands taking part in the initiative were exhibited in the evocative and historic Sala delle Colonne, before being sold in a public auction on April 19th, both at the venue and online. The revenues raised at the auction have been put towards restoring the Cathedral’s 135 spires, as well as more urgent structural repairs.
Prada’s contribution was a cerise-coloured ostrich leather bag named ‘Sound’.
