Spontaneous and immediate shots, arresting in their clarity, which capture a moment in time and which are charged with a sense of discovery because they were created before the collections were presented, not afterwards.
The images return to the themes and narrative of the men’s and women’s Fall/Winter 2017 show – humanity, reality and simplicity – and present a new sense of intimacy, an unspoken conversation between the viewer and the free-thinking, renegade and maverick models, freed from traditional rules or boundaries: Nonconformists.
Each character expresses their own identity alongside that of the clothes: subtle monochrome portraits, emphasising the individuality of each model, are juxtaposed with “portraits” of key Prada looks. Together they emphasise the intimate, intrinsically personal relationship between the wearer and their clothes.
With no backdrop, overriding theme or visual treatment, Willy Vanderperre’s photographs place the emphasis purely on the models and the clothes on their backs; direct, honest and straightforward images that slot seamlessly into the continuously developing 365 project.
