Prada is opening a major shop in the Illum La Rinascente department store at the heart of Copenhagen, dedicated to men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, footwear and accessories collections.
Covering an area of 900 m2 over two floors, the store’s alternating windows and light boxes fit seamlessly into the outer facade of the mall, while the indoor shop front and expansive entrance feature Prada’s trademark black marble.
The ground floor, which houses the women’s collections, in addition to historic features such as the black and white chequered floor also features the new colour and design elements Prada has recently introduced to the look of its stores. These include canvas walls painted in bright green watercolours; an exposed rafter ceiling in Prada green, offering a modern interpretation of the ceilings of historic Italian buildings; rooms featuring bright colours and turquoise hues; glass and Verde Alpi marble display cases, Borsani chairs and a video screen on the back wall of the final room offering a window onto imaginary worlds.
A Verde Alpi marble staircase leads to the menswear collections on the second floor, set in a large room that feels closely tied to the city thanks to its sizeable windows. The room incorporates some of the elements from the ground floor, such as the exposed rafters and the video walls, but in a more masculine interpretation, with Air Force blue colours, wooden shelves, dark, narrow ebony floorboards.
Guests at the cocktail party held on 10 November to celebrate the store’s opening included Lindsey Wixson, Klara Kristin, Pernille Teisbæk, Veneda Budny, Hanna Stefansson and Tommy Lee Winkworth.
