This historic plant, founded in the 1960s by Patrizio Bertelli under the name ‘Sir Robert’ and brought under the Prada Group umbrella in the early 2000s, has recently undergone major restructuring work, with alterations made to the logistics, technology and production at the site. The work was completed at the end of August this year.
The project involved the entire 1600 m² complex, and focused on modernising the cutting machinery (increasing production capacity by moving from two to four automatic machines, with static cutting surfaces and bridge cutters) and the various systems (introducing LED lighting and energy-efficient air conditioning), as well as updating the furnishings and completely relaying the floor.
Operations have also been made more efficient, with production now dedicated exclusively to sampling and to the production of belts (the plant’s historic specialism) and small leather goods (bracelets, Tricks, key rings, shoulder straps etc.).
This work is part of the Prada Group’s industrial strategy, which aims to keep the most delicate and specialised manufacturing processes in-house and to expand their reach. This particularly applies to cutting, where the firm aims to make best use of its extensive expertise it has developed over many decades and the high quality work of its specialist staff.
The plant currently employs 25 people, a figure that is likely to rise.
