Venice Days at the 73rd Venice Film Festival was rounded off by the fifth Miu Miu Women’s Tales Conversations, a series of discussions under the umbrella of the Miu Miu Women’s Tales project examining the role of women in cinema.
There were four subjects up for discussion this year:
The Girl Pack: Crystal Moselle (director of “The Wolfpack” and “That One Day“, the twelfth episode in the Miu Miu Women’s Tales series, shown in Venice this year) and musician Aska Matsumiya discussed the secrets behind making female-friendly films, moderated by Penny Martin (editor-in-chief of Gentlewoman).
Girls Grown Up: Dakota Fanning (“Brimstone“) and Juno Temple (“Away“) tackled the topic of coming of age on screen in another discussion moderated by Penny Martin.
Both Sides Now: Penny Martin, Ellie Bamber (“Pride and Prejudice” and “Zombies“), Zoey Deutch (“Good Kids“) and Grace Gummer (“Homesman“) looked at considerations for women on either side of the camera.
Documentary: a Job for Girls: Marina Spada (director of “My Tomorrow“) and Paola Piacenza (director of “The War Within“) shared their experience of investigating real life, moderated by Giorgio Gosetti (artistic director of “Venice Days“).
