Prada has granted certain prestigious shopping websites, which were already part of the brand’s select distribution network, the chance to sell its collections online, with the aim of increasing its reach.
In addition, from 15 July Net-à-Porter (www.net-a-porter.com) and MyTheresa (www.mytheresa.com) for womenswear and, from September, Mr. Porter (www.mrporter.com) for menswear will also sell the looks from all categories of Prada goods on their websites.
Alexa Chung has been chosen to be the face of the Prada launch on MyTheresa.
The wholesale clients were chosen based on an assessment of the quality of their websites, and particularly the brands and collections currently featured, their handling of logistics and, most importantly, their potential for growth.
Europe, America and Asia are the main focus of the move, and prices will be aligned with the Prada retail and e-commerce price lists.
This is Prada’s first foray into wholesale e-commerce distribution, and potential opportunities for expansion will be considered in the seasons to come.
In addition to Net-à-Porter, MyTheresa and Mr. Porter, the wholesale stores that currently form part of Prada’s online distribution network are: G&B (www.gebnegozionline.com), Tiziana Fausti (www.tizianafausti.com), Stefania Mode (www.stefaniamode.com), Coltorti (www.coltortiboutique.com) and Sugar (www.sugar.it).
