Prada has opened a new shop in Gold Coast, inside the prestigious Pacific Fair mall; the space, designed by architect Roberto Baciocchi, has an area of 310 m² and hosts the men’s and women’s leather goods, accessories, footwear and travel collections.
The shop front features an illuminated white canvas curtain within a glass case, with slender polished steel portals framing the entrances, windows and light boxes.
The women’s entrance leads to a room housing the leather goods collections, with an historic black and white chequerboard marble floor and the classic Prada niches covered in green fabric. This space then opens up into two more intimate rooms, dedicated to accessories and women’s footwear, both with a chequerboard black and white carpet floor and green velvet chairs.
The second entrance, meanwhile, dedicated to men, leads shoppers into an environment comprising typically masculine materials and finishes: narrow wooden floorboards, ebony walls, display cases with polished steel and glass surfaces and light terracotta leather sofas that match the rest of the furnishings.
An informal cocktail party was held to mark the store’s opening, which, in addition to top customers from the city, was attended by journalists, socialites and local figures from the world of business, culture, art and entertainment.
