On April 30th , as part of Art Monte-Carlo, an international contemporary art exhibition during which the artist Francesco Vezzoli launched his ‘Villa Marlene’ project dedicated to the mythical figure of Marlene Dietrich, Prada organised an exclusive evening event in honour of the artist and his installation. It was held at Villa Sauber, home of the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco, and was attended by Her Royal Highness Princess Caroline of Hanover, chair of the museum’s board of directors.
The artist has designed new interiors for Villa Sauber, one of the last remaining Belle Époque villas in Monaco. He has drawn inspiration from 1920s – 1930s Berlin, the setting for the film The Blue Angel, to produce an imaginative, fantasy world that acts as a backdrop to the diva’s life. Indeed, visitors are welcomed with a warning that “Everything that you will see in this exhibition is just pure fiction”.
The Prada soirée was also inspired by the Belle Époque in Berlin, with recipes, drinks and furnishings on the theme of the exhibition, and a performance by the renowned German actress and singer Barbara Sukowa.
The guests included Charlotte Casiraghi, Princess Alexandra of Hanover, Delfina Delettrez Fendi, the Prince and Princess of Yugoslavia (who wore Prada) and Princess Antonella of Orleans-Bourbon (who also wore Prada).
