An exhibition entitled ‘Kienholz: Five Car Stud’ will be held at Fondazione Prada from May 19th to December 31st 2016. It is being curated by Germano Celant, who is bringing together a selection of works created by Edward Kienholz and Nancy Reddin Kienholz between 1959 and 1994, including the historic installation Five Car Stud, which gives the exhibition its name. The work, which depicts a life-size scene of racial violence, is considered one of the American artist’s most important creations. This exhibition sees it returning to Italy for the first time, where it will be the central feature of a collection of 26 works by the two artists, alongside materials documenting the history and creative process behind Five Car Stud.
