Not a universe, but a multiverse: the cultural breadth of each collection, the intricacies inherent in each, requires deeper analysis. The latest evolution of the 365 campaign for the Fall/Winter 2017 collection unveils six new Prada realities in which photographer Willy Vanderperre adopts a connection forged from a cinematic point of view, creating moments from filmic visions
The first – Pièce de Chambre – reflects the intensity of vision that unfolds in chamber dramas. There is a focus on character, on the smallest gesture expressing the deepest meaning. The second facet, Affiches, reflects the decor of the Prada Fall/Winter 2017 women’s showspace – walls pasted with make-believe movie posters. Chiaroscuro – light and darkness – inspired by Renaissance painting but translated to the silver screen: the femme here is fatale. Mise-en-Scène and Viewfinder both refer to the construction of the image rather than its fantasy: the first abbreviates the protagonists, cropping tightly to focus attention on Prada accessories or on portraits, whereas the second implies actions about to occur. The final act, Dénoument (Conclusion), is a fantasy: the finale in which the strands of the plot are drawn together, matters explained and resolved.
The first three Prada realities (Pièce de Chambre, Affiches, Chiaroscuro) have been already unveiled while Mise en Scène, Viewfinder and Dénoument will be available on prada.com over the next few weeks.
