A programme providing training in professional craft skills has begun at the Prada Group’s premises in Tuscany, seeking to preserve and pass on expertise within the company, paving the way for the next generation within the Group.
The three training courses involve teaching specific professional skills to young people aged between 18 and 24, in addition to subjects such as technology, IT and English. The teaching will combine classroom-based learning with practical applications in the various workshops, as well as visits to suppliers of raw materials.
The first course scheduled, dedicated to leather goods, lasts seven weeks and aims to train twelve young people in the leather-cutting profession, alternating theory with practical work on cutting techniques and the raw materials used.
This will be followed by a twelve-week shoemaking course, during which between ten and twelve young people be trained as clickers, closers, conveyor belt operators and finishers.
Finally, the tailoring course, dedicated to cutting and the art of tailoring, will be attended by around ten young people.
All the teaching staff come from the Prada Group’s workshops and industrial sites; the idea is to preserve and pass on not only professional skills but also craftsmanship and the excellence for which Prada’s organisational culture is renowned.
