Miu Miu launches a special project for the autumn season photographed by the artist Angela Hill. A diverse cast is captured on a Super 8 camera and photographed on film in the gardens of an Elizabethan manor house in the heart of the British countryside. Excitement and anticipation fuel the discovery of a tangled landscape, a place that is new to those exploring it for the first time, but centuries old, punctuated by ancient brick work and scarred stones.
The wardrobe is intelligent, grounded and layered for warmth, contrast, texture and exaggeration of proportion. Archetypal Miu Miu garments and materials appear, allowing the character and individuality of each character, and the way they choose to wear their clothes, to shine. Eased pieces are crafted in cosy and comfortable fabrications including kid mohair, bi-color velour and English rib and Fairisle-inspired knit. Classic zip-fronted jackets, jeans and skirts are in signature aged leather and shearling, sporty nylon and jersey, chambray denim, tufted teddy and wool check with contrast collars. All are in a muted color palette that compliments that of the untamed natural environment they are seen in and finished with idiosyncratic detail including signature logo’ed patches and waistbands and quintessentially feminine bows.
Accessories are versatile, at once functional and uplifting, always with effortless sophistication and a touch of rebelliousness in mind: shearling lined boots, moccasins, supple loafers, sturdy Chelsea boots and buckled bikers. Bags include the iconic Wander, the Arcadie, the Pocket, Beau, Solitaire and backpack.
There is a marked contrast between the wild, in places ruined, nature of the surroundings and the youth and pristine beauty of the women who joyfully interact there.
