The Accademia dei Bambini at Fondazione Prada has launched a new project, running until January 2017, entitled ‘Burattini, marionette… robot e bambini veri’ (‘Puppets, marionettes… robots and real children’). It comprises a series of workshops, events and films dedicated to animated objects (puppets, marionettes and robots) that embody the idea of the double, which represents a fundamental experience both in children’s development and in human history.
Curated by neuropaediatrician Giannetta Ottilia Latis, the project aims to create a space for inter-generational discussions of cultural ideas linked to art, cinema and science: through the double, children and adults can develop an image of themselves and put themselves to test with their surroundings. Puppets, marionettes and robots are therefore used in their various forms for a series of children’s activities – not just workshops, but also round tables and screenings – with the aim of drilling deeper into this critical experience.
