On 6th September Pasticceria Marchesi 1824 opened a third shop in the heart of Milan, in the iconic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, one of the city’s symbolic landmarks. The new shop, located on the mezzanine floor of the building that houses the Prada menswear store, can be accessed by stairs or lift either from the Prada shop or directly from the arcade. The shop has 250 m2 of floor space and recreates the atmosphere and charm of the historic Marchesi shop on Via Santa Maria alla Porta, in an attractive environment with numerous arched windows that overlook the avenue’s frescoes and mosaic floors.
The furniture and display cases, made of cherry with glass shelves, recall the furnishings of the original Marchesi shop and are centred on the firm’s products, which are produced daily at the in-house kitchen to ensure the highest possible quality. Like the Marchesi on Via Monte Napoleone, part of the space has been dedicated to an elegant tea room with a wide range of options on offer at all times of the day: breakfast, lunch (or brunch at the weekend), tea and cocktails.
It is also worth noting that the intimate tea room at the historic Marchesi store on Via Santa Maria alla Porta, which was used in the 1950s before being converted to an office, has now been reopened, offering a similar service, albeit on a reduced scale.
