Prada Piancastagnaio, a leather goods factory in the Province of Siena that incorporates all stages of the manufacturing process, has recently undergone significant renovation and restructuring work, involving both the production method and the technology employed.
The two-storey plant now has a raw material warehouse, cutting department, quality control and storage for finished products on the ground floor, with two production lines and offices on the first floor.
Meanwhile, the cutting department has been furnished with the latest automated machinery: small-sized cutting surfaces equipped with innovative lighting systems, developed internally by Prada in collaboration with the manufacturer, Atom. These ensure the ‘artisan’ quality of the products, a characteristic feature of the Piancastagnaio factory, is maintained.
The number of employees has also doubled, bringing staff who were formerly outside contractors for the Prada Group into the plant, and the factory’s relationship with the region has been strengthened thanks to close collaboration with local businesses. This will also lead to increased product awareness, thus helping to maintain skills and professional expertise.
