‘Haute–à–Porter’, which opens on 2 April at the Fashion Museum in Hasselt, Belgium, is a large-scale exhibition dedicated to research into how the concepts traditionally connected to haute couture – luxury, craftsmanship, volume, extravagance, performance, magnificence and grandeur – are now now also featured in the most prestigious ready-to-wear collections. Curated by Filep Motwary, renowned for his costume designs and his work as a journalist and photographer, ‘Haute–à–Porter’ aims to recount the contribution that haute couture has made to ready-to-wear, and show how the latter has rivalled the former on numerous occasions. With this in mind, the curator has chosen two looks from Prada collections, Fall/Winter 2009 and Fall/Winter 2015, and a Miu Miu look from Spring/Summer 2010.
‘Haute–à–Porter’ will be exhibited at the Fashion Museum in Hasselt from 2 April to 11 September 2016.
