A City of Women, the latest chapter in 365, Prada’s advertising project based on a stream of images, portrays the Prada woman as she is today: direct, simple and human. This is not a single woman but a group, presented in the multiple incarnations of contemporary femininity and in the multitude of roles that women assume and express. Archetypes are eschewed, and stereotypes demolished. The Prada woman is never static, nor easily defined.
Shot by Willy Vanderperre in a space stripped down to its bare essentials, the clothes and the models (Mica Arganaraz, Mia Brammer, Saskia de Brauw, Freja Beha Erichsen, Kris Grikaite, Nina Gulien, Amanda Murphy, Cara Taylor, Natalie Westling and Kiki Willems) present a study of different characters, with various states of mind, emotions and narratives. These are portraits of real women that represent Prada’s constant evolution, shown as individuals: each one unique and representing a part of the brand… But, like in Metropolis, Fritz Lang’s 1927 masterpiece of silent cinema, the interaction of their different personas creates unexpected dialogues and visual conversations.
