Miu Miu celebrates Chinese New Year with The Encounter (如期而遇), a short film directed by acclaimed screenwriter and filmmaker, Shujun Wei and featuring Miu Miu brand ambassadors, Liu Haocun and Zhao Jinmai. Set against the backdrop of Yi Lau Yi, a bustling Cantonese tea restaurant in Beijing, the story captured the two actors in a whimsical scene as they are entertained by a local three-piece band. When, almost magically, the musicians and other diners vanish, the playful pair is left to explore the empty space – dancing, creating music, and wandering through a fantastical dreamscape all their own – making a celebratory tribute to the Year of the Snake.
The collection captures a spirit of joy and optimistic, mirroring the celebratory moment. It features oversized sweaters and blouson jackets, preppy tweeds and checks, jewel-encrusted denim, aged leather and cotton poplin shirts and shorts all styled with signature ballerinas, loafers, strappy kitten heels, Plume and New Balance X Miu Miu sneakers, glamorous opera gloves and delicate pearl chains. The Penny, Wander and Arcadie bags – offered in exclusive iterations – take center stage, accompanied by baseball caps, rose-tinted eyewear and playful bag charms, including a crochet-knit serpent and, in select stores, personalized Chinese knots. Logoed zip-front hoodies, T-shirts and cotton underwear in lucky red are also available to commemorate the occasion.
